What matters more than anything is your undivided attention. Men, when we don't listen we lose the chance to connect with her. When you walk through the door, ask her how her day was and listen. Five minutes of your time, with eye contact, can change her world. If you beat her home, you cook dinner for a change and reap the rewards of her love in the many ways she can show it. She may ask you how your day was. Even if it was worse than hers, sometimes the best response is, "Its not important. I'm with you now." We don't realize how these little moments make the biggest difference. Fathers, take time today and be with your kids. Let them know you aren't there just to make them do homework and take out the trash. Your kids will respect you if you respect them and their struggles. You were once in their shoes and it's important to remember that. Sons, call your mother and thank her for what she has done for you. Even if she was horrible, thank her from birth. I cannot promise that everyone will accept the love you offer. But with all the darkness surrounding the world today, it's a blessing to see the light. Today, be the light.
